'Warehousing' covers two quite different purchases that are easy to confuse: self-storage, where you rent space and handle your own goods, and third-party logistics, where a provider receives, stores, picks and ships on your behalf. Getting the category right before you shop saves most of the wasted conversations. For commercial goods, climate control and insurance terms usually matter more than the rate per square foot.

Self-storage is cheap and hands-off. 3PL costs more and does the work. Quotes are not comparable across the two.

Check insurance and what it actually covers
Facility insurance generally covers the building, not your goods. Confirm whether you need your own coverage and what the facility's liability limit is.

Ask about climate control for Okanagan summers
Valley heat is hard on electronics, adhesives, finishes and anything with a temperature tolerance. Unconditioned space gets genuinely hot here.

Confirm access hours and loading
Dock height, drive-up access and after-hours entry are the details that decide whether a facility works day to day.
